CONSTRUCTING EFFECTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS BY USING CREATIVE DRAMA IN TERMS OF PRESERVICE ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS TEACHERS
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine how pre-service elementary mathematics teachers construct effective mathematics learning environments and to inform them about the situations they will face with during the process. Practices related with the principles in the literature about effective mathematics learning environments which are equity, curriculum, teaching, learning, technology and assessment are done by using creative drama as a method. Study consists of ten practice weeks which three were related communication, trust and harmony since the nature of creative drama. The other remaining practice weeks are related with the principles above. Pretest-posttest experimental design with one group is used with both qualitative and quantitative data collection tolls. At the end of the research, pre-service elementary mathematics teacher mention that they were better informed and collected new information on both constructing and effective mathematics learning environment and using the principles mentioned in that learning environments.
